I remember it well. Wanting to do something to get in shape. Thinking I should go running, but no real idea where to start and thinking that running was boring or too hard. Then I was going to become a Dad and I decided I would have a proper go at it.

I bought a book with a training plan. That training plan wasn’t very good but it got me started. Running became part of my life and I went from being a reasonably fit guy (from previous sports) capable of 10k in about 47 minutes on a very good day to a PB of 42 minutes within 6 months. Then I stagnated and didn’t really know where to go next.

6 months later, I stumbled into contact with an aspiring running coach. Not yet qualified but on his way there. He started helping me with my training plans and within 3 months, I had achieved my goal of a sub 40 10k. It was a revelation and I don’t think I would ever have got there without the help of a coach. There is so much information out there but it’s impossible to know what to believe and what to trust.

I’ve since embarked on a journey of enlightenment as far as running and training goes, and despite being hindered with a busy life (including three young children and running two businesses!), I’ve since taken my PBs down to pretty respectable times (10k PB is now 36:11), with plenty of room for improvement.

As a qualified Coach in Running Fitness (UK Athletics - Level 2), experienced runner and all round busy guy, I can really help you to get the best out of your running in terms of enjoyment and performance. I can help you work out how to fit in the best training you can within your busy schedule. Running sessions, strength sessions, flexibility sessions.
